Vancouver, British Columbia–(Newsfile Corp. – September 29, 2022) – Los Andes Copper Ltd. (TSXV: LA), (OTCQX: LSANF) (“Los Andes” or the “Company”) is pleased to report progress on its large-scale Vizcachitas copper project in Chile.

The Pre-Feasibility Study (“PFS”) continues to progress with the completion of the initial resource model for mine plan optimization. General engineering work, infrastructure planning, plant design and environmental considerations are all on track with the PFS plan to complete in Q4 2022. The team of in-house technical experts and Tetra Tech’s independent engineers work to optimize operational mine plans. Successful drilling completed in 2022 has been incorporated into the resource model and opportunities to increase the potential extraction rate of the project are being evaluated. The restrictions on production rates in the current Preliminary Economic Assessment (“PEA”) relate to the rate of pit opening and primarily primary comminution and both of these aspects are the subject of current technical attention. The PEA has a lifespan of 45 years, so speeding up production would be a benefit to the project.

The environmental and social aspects of the project are also key considerations in the ongoing design work for a modern mine. The provision of High Pressure Grinding Rolls (“HPGR”) and dry stacking of tailings have been incorporated into the mine design process, significantly reducing planned water and energy consumption. In addition, the company recently entered into a desalinated water supply letter of intent with plans to add to the regional water infrastructure for the benefit of the project and the community.

R. Michael Jones, CEO of Los Andes, said, “The detailed engineering of the PFS is designed to take advantage of the successful drilling we have completed and modern technology that helps reduce the environmental footprint to extract the copper that the world will need in the years to come.

Drilling is expected to resume shortly with the goal of expanding the resources beyond those currently contemplated in the PFS. Large-scale intersections of 860-1,000 meters of mineralization previously announced in 2022 are not closed in the deposit model. Following the July 2022 decision, the Company quickly began preparatory work for the resumption of drilling which included fieldwork and deposition. On September 28, 2022, the Environmental Tribunal clarified the conditions to begin drilling, requiring agency approval of certain filings. Accordingly, we expect drilling to resume in Q4 2022.”

About Los Andes Copper Ltd.

Los Andes Copper Ltd. is a development company with a 100% interest in the Vizcachitas project in Chile. The Company is focused on advancing the Vizcachitas Project, which is located along Chile’s most prolific copperbelt, to production.

Vizcachitas is a copper-molybdenum porphyry deposit, located 120 km north of Santiago, Chile, in an area with good infrastructure. The National Instrument 43-101 – Standards of Disclosure for Mineral Projects (“NI 43-101”) report entitled “Preliminary Economic Assessment of the Vizcachitas Project” (the “PEA”), dated June 13, 2019, prepared by Tetra Tech, points out that the Vizcachitas project has an after-tax NPV (8% discount rate) of approximately US$1.8 billion and an IRR of 20.77%, based on a copper price of $3 per book. The Vizcachitas project has a measured resource of 254.4 million tonnes grading 0.439% copper and an indicated resource of approximately 1.03 billion tonnes grading 0.385% copper. The EEP can be found on the Company’s SEDAR profile at www.sedar.com.

The PEA is preliminary in nature, it includes inferred mineral resources that are considered too geologically speculative to have the economic considerations applied to them that would allow them to be classified as mineral reserves, and there is no certainty that the PEA will be realized.

Los Andes Copper Ltd. is listed on the TSX Venture Exchange under the symbol: LA.

The world’s largest carbon removal project to date is heading to Wyoming http://www.mine3.net/the-worlds-largest-carbon-removal-project-to-date-is-heading-to-wyoming/ Sat, 24 Sep 2022 01:25:00 +0000 http://www.mine3.net/the-worlds-largest-carbon-removal-project-to-date-is-heading-to-wyoming/

A few climate tech startups plan to suck a lot of carbon dioxide out of the air and trap it underground in Wyoming. The Verge reports: The goal of the new venture, called Project Bison, is to build a new facility capable of extracting 5 million metric tons of carbon dioxide per year by 2030. The CO2 can then be stored deep in the Earth, the keeping it out of the atmosphere, where it would have continued to warm the planet. A Los Angeles-based company, CarbonCapture, is building the facility, called the Direct Air Capture (DAC) plant, which is expected to start operations as early as next year. It will start small and work up to 5 million metric tons per year. If all goes well by 2030, the operation will be an order of magnitude larger than existing direct air capture projects.

CarbonCapture’s equipment is modular, which the company says makes it easy to scale the technology. The plant itself will be made up of modules that look like stacks of shipping containers with vents through which air passes. Initially, the modules used for Project Bison will be manufactured at CarbonCapture’s headquarters in Los Angeles. In the first phase of the project, which should be completed next year, about 25 modules will be deployed in Wyoming. These modules will collectively have the capacity to remove approximately 12,000 tonnes of CO2 per year from the air. The plan is to deploy more modules to Wyoming over time and eventually manufacture the modules there one day as well.

Inside each of the 40-foot modules are approximately 16 “reactors” with “absorber cartridges” that essentially act as filters that attract CO2. The filters capture approximately 75% of the CO2 from the air passing over them. In about 30-40 minutes, the filters absorbed all the CO2 they could. Once the filters are completely saturated, the reactor disconnects so that the filters can be heated to separate the CO2. There are many reactors in a module, each operating at its own pace so they are constantly collecting CO2. Together they generate concentrated streams of CO2 which can then be compressed and sent directly to underground wells for storage. The DAC is still very expensive – it can cost up to $600 to capture a ton of carbon dioxide. This number is expected to drop over time as technology advances. But right now, it takes a lot of energy to run the DAC factories, which contributes to the high price. Filters need to reach around 85 degrees Celsius (185 degrees Fahrenheit) for a few minutes, and reaching this kind of high temperature for DAC plants can become very power-hungry. Ultimately, […] Bison plans to get enough power from new wind and solar installations. When the project is operating at full capacity in 2030, it is expected to use the equivalent of about 2 GW of solar energy per year. For comparison, about 3 million photovoltaic panels together generate one gigawatt of solar power, according to the Department of Energy. But initially, the energy used by Project Bison may have to come from natural gas, according to Corless. So Bison would first have to capture enough CO2 to negate the amount of emissions it generates by burning that gas before it can continue to reduce the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere. “Wyoming’s geology allows Project Bison to store CO2 captured in situ near the modules,” adds The Verge. “Project Bison plans to permanently store the CO2 it captures underground. Specifically, project leaders envision storing it 12,000 feet underground in ‘saline aquifers’ – areas of rock saturated with salt water. .”

BJP Legislative Party leader Babulal Marandi has demanded that Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren be removed from office (Image: Twitter/Hemant Soren)

BJP Legislative Party Leader Babulal Marandi said he had written to the CMs of Bihar and Jharkhand to highlight the problem of illegal stone quarrying in Sahibgan.

A day after the Law Enforcement Directorate (ED) claims that Jharkhand Chief Minister’s representative Hemant Soren, Pankaj Mishra, arrested in a money laundering case, is ‘controlling’ mining activities illegal in Sahibganj, the BJP on Thursday demanded that the CM be “removed”. BJP Legislative Party leader Babulal Marandi said he had repeatedly written to the chief ministers of Bihar and Jharkhand, highlighting the problem of illegal stone quarrying in Sahibganj, “but my warnings fell in deaf ears.

During the transportation of illegally mined stones in Sahibganj, a number of incidents took place, the saffron party leader claimed. If the CMs had seen the letters, the current situation could have been avoided, he said.

“Nothing was left to the imagination… ED’s press release clearly mentions everything. The CM must be removed. The governor should facilitate Soren’s removal and the ED should also probe his role,” Marandi said while speaking to reporters in Dumka.

Mishra enjoys ‘political influence’ as he is CM Hemant Soren’s representative and ‘controls’ illegal mining activities in Soren’s assembly constituency through his accomplices, the central agency said on Wednesday. .

Soren is a Member of Parliament from Barhait assembly seat in Sahibganj district. The CM, in a tweet on Wednesday, said: “The opposition continues to attack us like mad but we remained unfazed…I will continue to work for the people of Jharkhand.”

Plans for new Redding Pit mining disaster memorial to mark 100 years of fatal incident http://www.mine3.net/plans-for-new-redding-pit-mining-disaster-memorial-to-mark-100-years-of-fatal-incident/ Wed, 21 Sep 2022 10:19:34 +0000 http://www.mine3.net/plans-for-new-redding-pit-mining-disaster-memorial-to-mark-100-years-of-fatal-incident/

A fundraising campaign has been launched to renew a memorial for the men who lost their lives in one of Scotland’s worst mining accidents nearly a century ago.

Forty men were killed when water flooded Pit No. 23, in the Braes village of Redding, near Falkirk, on Tuesday September 25, 1923.

Some drowned in the initial water rush, but 11 of those who perished survived up to 14 days, waiting in vain for rescue.

It was one of the worst disasters in Scottish mining history, but for the small mining communities in the villages of Braes it was devastating and its impact has never been forgotten.

Within days of the disaster a fund had been set up by the Provost of Falkirk – within a year it had raised over £60,000, the equivalent of well over £1 million today.

A commemorative plaque has been installed at Redding Cross 22 years after the disaster and every year the Sir William Wallace Grand Lodge of Scotland Free Colliers commemorate the tragedy when their annual parade stops there to pay their respects.

However, they are now planning a more modern tribute to the lost colliers, in the hope that it will tell the story of the disaster to a new generation.

It is hoped that it will be in place for the 100th anniversary of the disaster next year.

Wullie Allardyce, Grand Master of the Free Charcoal Sir William Wallace Grand Lodge of Scotland, said: ‘We plan to turn the memorial into living history, telling the story of the disaster and how it happened, to leave a lasting legacy for generations. come.

“Our project consists of installing interactive storyboards, coal hutches, miner’s lamps and period statues, surrounded by walls and fences related to the disaster.”

The memorial will include a sculpture of a miner and a mother holding a baby, anxiously awaiting news at the mine head.

They are hoping to raise £100,000 to cover the cost of the ambitious memorial, although £38,000 – the cost of the main statues – will be paid for by a Community Choices grant from Falkirk Council.

On Monday, a group of Free Colliers joined Councilman Billy Buchanan to launch the fundraising campaign to support the project.

Mr Allardyce added: “We have been planning this for several years and then Covid put a stop to a lot of fundraising, but we would like it done for the 100th anniversary.

“We have quotes from various local companies to carry out different aspects of the project work.

“Any offer of help or donation for the cost of the upgrade would be greatly appreciated.”

This week Cllr Buchanan showed his support for the campaign by presenting a copy of Amanda M Barrie’s 1988 book The Redding Pit Disaster to all schools and libraries in Falkirk Council.

The Redding Pit Disaster

At 5 a.m. on Tuesday, September 25, 1923, an influx of water flooded much of pit No. 23.

As news of the disaster spread, huge crowds of anxious parents gathered near the pithead waiting for news.

Teams of divers from Falkirk and beyond arrived to examine the flooded workings and after five hours 21 men were rescued, emerging through an ancient shaft called Gutter Hole.

On October 4, five more men were found safe, although they had been buried for ten days.

But they were the last and by December – the 40th day of the rescue operation – the 40th body had been found.

Skeena raises $30 million to fund takeover of Eskay Creek NSR http://www.mine3.net/skeena-raises-30-million-to-fund-takeover-of-eskay-creek-nsr/ Mon, 19 Sep 2022 18:24:31 +0000 http://www.mine3.net/skeena-raises-30-million-to-fund-takeover-of-eskay-creek-nsr/

Skeena Resources (TSX: SKE; NYSE: SKE) announced a $30 million bought deal financing to fund its acquisition of a net smelter (NSR) currently held by Barrick Gold. A syndicate of underwriters led by Raymond James will purchase 4.96 million common shares of Skeena at $6.05 per share. There is also an over-allotment option to buy nearly 744,000 shares, exercisable for 30 days.

Skeena is currently focused on the revitalization of the former Eskay Creek gold-silver mine located in the Golden Triangle of northwestern British Columbia. It previously operated from 1994 to 2008 as an underground mine, producing 3.3 million ounces. gold at an average grade of 45 g/t and 160 million ounces. silver at an average grade of 2,224 g/t, making it one of the richest gold mines in the world at that time.

Skeena took a first option on the property in 2017, with the aim of bringing the former mine back into production as a conventional open pit operation. It then acquired 100% ownership of the project from Barrick in October 2020, with the latter retaining a 1% NSR royalty over all of the Eskay Creek lands. Half of this royalty may be repurchased from Barrick during the 24 month period following closing.

The latest financial package would allow Skeena to buy out a 0.5% NSR royalty for a total of $17.5 million, as previously agreed. The remainder of the funds will be used by the company for general administration and corporate purposes.

The announcement follows the recent release of a feasibility study for the Eskay Creek project, which projects an after-tax net present value of $1.4 billion (at a 5% discount rate) and a internal return of 50.2% – the cost of production capital is estimated at one year.

Tampakan Mayor Leonard Escobillo sends notice Sept. 15 to Sagittarius Mines about revocation of its mining license for alleged violation of municipal tax code

GENERAL SANTOS CITY, Philippines – The municipal government of Tampakan in South Cotabato on Thursday, September 15 revoked the operating license of mining company Sagittarius Mines, Incorporated (SMI) for “fraud and misrepresentation”.

SMI, a company chaired by former Defense Secretary Gilbert Teodoro, is set to mine Southeast Asia’s largest copper-gold deposit, which has been on hold for decades due to a mining ban. surface mining in South Cotabato, where the mine is located.

Tampakan Mayor Leonard Escobillo issued a notice Sept. 15 to SMI regarding the revocation of its business license because the company allegedly violated the city’s 2012 tax code.

Copies of the document were provided to the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB), an office under the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources.

The revocation of the mining license came at a time when the local Catholic diocese and environmentalists have stepped up a campaign to pressure the government not to allow surface mining in the province.

Escobillo alleged that SMI misrepresented the description of its business in the company’s business permit application.

A tax collector from the city’s treasury office said he was ordered by the mayor to review all taxes paid by establishments and stumbled upon several shortcomings, including those of the SMI.

All establishments with deficiencies were notified and responded positively, with the exception of SMI.

Officials said the company ignored a series of assessment notices sent to them for shortcomings in paying business tax and other regulatory fees.

Escobillo said what SMI said in the mining permit application was that it was a “mining exploration fabricator,” but an assessment showed it was not operating as such .

Instead, he said, “SMI operates as a general engineering contractor.”

Part of the revocation notice to SMI stated that “the amount reported by the company shown in your gross receipts is from the sale of your unserviceable assets, such as tables, computers and equipment, etc. which may be considered as other income but not due to the company’s mining operations/activities.

The revocation came days after SMI took the city government to court to protest the local government’s attempt to collect nearly 400 million pesos in taxes and regulatory fees from the company since 2013.

Escobillo said the city’s treasury office found deficiencies in the company’s business tax from 2020 to 2022 as well as their business license fees and other regulatory fees from 2013 to 2022.

He said the company was aware of the tax laws, but SMI chose to take the matter to court.

“We will face them and we are ready,” Escobillo said.

Tampakan is home to the region’s multi-billion dollar copper-gold project, which is believed to have one of the largest mineral deposits in the world.

SMI’s petition for review includes a prayer for a temporary restraining order (TRO) to stop the Tampakan city government from collecting the amount from the company.

BOSSIER CITY, La. (KSLA) – The Bossier City Municipal Fire and Police Civil Service Board is considering removing the chief of the Bossier City Police Department.

An item is on the agenda for the Friday, September 16 meeting stating that the board will consider the removal of Christopher Estess as chief of police. The request was submitted by Mayor Tommy Chandler.

According to a city statement, La. law provides for a “work test” period for city fire and police department employees. Because Estess’ request for removal is less than six months from the date of her appointment, the prior approval of the City of Bossier Public Service Board is required by law.

Mayor Chandler released the following statement:

Public safety has always been a top priority for me and this decision was not made without much thought, consideration and prayer. Unfortunately, the Bossier City Police Department, under the leadership of Chris Estess, has not moved forward in a way that best serves the department or the citizens of Bossier City.

The men and women of the Bossier City Police Department and the citizens of Bossier City deserve leadership that seeks to strengthen the department and our community. While I understand that the decision to remove the Chief during the work test period is unprecedented and controversial, I am committed to making the tough decisions that ensure Bossier City progresses and thrives.

The meeting is set for 3:30 p.m. Friday afternoon.

Estess was just named Chief of Police in April of this year.

Global Hair Removal Wax Market Report (2022 to 2028) – Changing Lifestyles Expected to Increase Product Demand – ResearchAndMarkets.com http://www.mine3.net/global-hair-removal-wax-market-report-2022-to-2028-changing-lifestyles-expected-to-increase-product-demand-researchandmarkets-com/ Thu, 15 Sep 2022 12:20:00 +0000 http://www.mine3.net/global-hair-removal-wax-market-report-2022-to-2028-changing-lifestyles-expected-to-increase-product-demand-researchandmarkets-com/

DUBLIN–(BUSINESS WIRE)–The Report “Global Hair Removal Waxes Market Size, Share, and Industry Trend Analysis by Gender (Female and Male), by Type, by Distribution Channel, by Regional Outlook and Forecast, 2022-2028 ” has been added to the report from ResearchAndMarkets.com offer.

The global depilatory wax market size is expected to reach USD 4.5 billion by 2028, with the market growing at 7.9% CAGR during the forecast period.

Waxing is a method of removing unwanted hair from the roots, using depilatory wax. When applied to the skin, wax is a sticky substance that sticks to body hair. The hair from the follicle is removed by pulling on its covering. Hair removal wax is a semi-permanent way to get rid of unwanted hair. For two to eight weeks after waxing, hair does not grow in this area. Nevertheless, in some people, hair regrowth begins within a week. Almost any area can be treated with hair removal wax, including eyebrows, arms, face, abdomen, intimate area and feet. The skin is covered with a thin layer of wax. After that, a strip of paper or fabric is pushed over the wax layer. The strip of paper or fabric is then torn off in the direction of hair growth. Both hair and wax are removed in this way.

The three major market trends and drivers for hair removal wax are an improving economy, a rapidly aging population, and an increase in disposable income. The hair removal wax market is expected to grow as the hair removal wax industry gradually matures in developed economies. The depilatory wax market has grown thanks to the increase in the purchasing power of consumers, particularly among women, who can now afford certain luxuries such as visiting a salon for hair removal wax. Moreover, the increase in the proportion of working women has facilitated the growth of the market.

One of the most widely used waxing techniques on the market today is hot waxing. A strip of paper is used to help remove hair after applying hot wax to the body. Sometimes people confuse warm wax with hot wax, which is applied to the body before it cools and sets on the skin. Depending on their skin type, many people prefer wax because it removes hair directly from the skin. The most popular technique is waxing as it produces a long lasting result and an incredibly smooth finish. During the forecast period, the hair removal wax market is expected to grow due to various waxing techniques and their long-lasting benefits.

Market Growth Factors

Changing lifestyles are expected to increase demand for products

The demand for waxing products is mainly driven by the need to maintain a well-groomed physical appearance. The purchasing power of consumers is increasing due to changing lifestyles, rising standards of living and increasing disposable incomes. This impacts customer spending on hair removal services at salons or spas. Many professional spas and salons purchase hair removal products. In the near future, this is expected to have a continuous impact on the depilatory wax market.

Growing demand for ready-to-use wax strips

Ready-to-use hair removal strips are a hair removal method that already contains wax, eliminating the need to heat and apply wax during hair removal. In the long term, pre-made wax strips are more effective. For the majority of body parts including the bikini area, face, armpits and legs, pre-made wax strips are preferred as they are available in a range of sizes and shapes. These cold wax strips can quickly and easily remove hair from large areas when used at home.

Market restraining factors

Access to alternative products

Due to increasing customer choice, non-invasive and non-surgical hair removal methods are becoming increasingly popular. Alternatives to waxing include shaving, lotions, and laser hair removal techniques, as they are less painful and do not cause skin irritation or abrasion. In order to remove unwanted hair, men and women use shaving techniques such as razors and hair removal creams because they are cheaper and easier to use. This is considered to be a significant factor that can restrain the growth of the depilatory wax market.
